I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, a great little town in northern Minnesota. From there, we moved to Fort Collins to start our teaching careers. I worked for a year in various schools here in Fort Collins before landing my first teaching job getting to open Bacon Elementary in 2003. I taught third grade there for eight years. As a teacher, I became a national trainer for a reading program, lead and implemented a character education program for our building, and became a lead teacher in the area of a Multi-Tiered Support System for students in our school. During this time, I was inspired by several coworkers to go back to school to be a principal. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2005 with my Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision and Principal Licensure. Over the next 5 years, I began to take on more leadership roles at Bacon, training to be the very best teacher and future leader I could be. In 2011, I stepped out of the classroom to join the office as an Assistant Principal. During those 4 years I worked hard to learn and lead as much as I could to be prepared for my first job as an administrator. I was honored to join the Shepardson staff, students, and community during the 2015-2016 school year! With my belief in a team approach in educating children today, along with the mentality that all students can achieve at a high level, I know that we will be an amazing school.
I grew up in several small towns around the cold but beautiful lake country of Minnesota. My father and mother owned several businesses together, so I grew up with the values of family, dedication, and striving to serve the public. I met my husband in our Children's Literature class in college and we have been happily married for many years. We have three amazing children, our oldest Maxwell, and our twins Dominic and Isabella. We live here in Fort Collins where my husband is a teacher, and our children happily attend schools here in PSD. We love Fort Collins, and are here for the long haul!
Outside of school, there are are many things that I enjoy doing. With two of my three kids playing competitive soccer, you can usually find us on a field somewhere in Colorado and even in other states. I love supporting my children's passions, so we have a blast following them around. I also have a lot of extended family in town and we spend a lot of time with each other. If we aren't with family or on a soccer field, you can find me with friends, enjoying exercise, or hopping around to many of the cool foodie spots in Old Town.
