Following graduation from Oneida High School in upstate, New York, I attended Bay Path College in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. I received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. I then transferred to Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, where I majored in Psychology and minored in Elementary Education.
I began my career in education while at Merrimack as a mentor to drug addicted and neglected young children for the MSPCC. Throughout college I also worked as a preschool teacher. I fell in love with the adventures of learning, exploring and growing with young children. After visiting Colorado a few times with my high school sweetheart and now husband, we moved here following graduation. Since moving here in 1995, I have worked as a director of a preschool and a kindergarten and 1st grade teacher. I also received my Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Colorado.
I was blessed to join the Shepardson family in 2000. During my time at Shepardson I have had the joy of teaching both Kindergarten and 1st grade.
I had the pleasure and beauty of growing up in a small town in upstate New York. I lived in Massachussettes for 5 years while attending college. Following college we moved to beautiful Horsetooth Reservoir where Mr. Wood and I have loved life here since 1995. We also have two amazing daughters who enlighten our days and fill our hearts! People have always said I am a kid at heart which is probably why my path led to teaching. I did not begin my college career planning on becoming a teacher. At one time I even thought of becoming a clown! However, experiences lead us down unexpected paths everyday and 20 years later my love of teaching continues to grow. Each day is an adventure as a teacher! Some days are exhausting and some days are exhilarating. But everyday is a journey like no other! I have been blessed to have so many children and families touch my heart year after year!
I love to play, explore and create. I treasure my family and friends and all our moments together. My favorite days are ones where I am outside boating, hiking, exploring, laughing and having fun! I love Colorado and especially our home at Horsetooth. I admire nature and anything in it including things that are creepy and crawly. The only creature that makes me shiver are bats and rats There really isn't anything I don't enjoy (other than bad smells, humidity, golf and cooking.) I love to play and have fun! I love to curl up with a good book, play games and use my creativity. My daughters have brought me so much joy and unexpected experiences that I am grateful everyday to be their mom. I thank my mom for being an amazing role model and holding my hand throughout my life! She encouraged me to follow the paths that were set before me and go with my heart and trust my brain. Everyday I learn so much through the eyes of children and am blessed with the experiences!
