I’m so excited to be teaching 4th grade again this year! I came up to CSU for my undergraduate degree and fell in love with Fort Collins. When I first started at Shepardson in 2011, I knew it was my teaching home. At Shepardson, I have been a daycare worker, substitute teacher, paraprofessional, 3rd grade teacher, and taught 2nd grade here for seven years before transitioning to 4th last year. It’s my all-time favorite place and this year I get to have all four of my children here with me (in pre-k, 1st, 3rd, and 5th).
This summer, we took things slow and stayed close to home. I was, and still am, working on my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My kiddos, my husband, and I love to get outdoors and explore, get messy, and play around in nature. I am also an avid book reader: science fiction is my favorite! That carries over to my passions for elementary school; I love sharing favorite books with my students and helping kids get to know themselves as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, historians… we take learning seriously here in 4th grade, but we still have a lot of fun.
