Where Stem Learning Happens

About Shepardson

Working together we can reach the stars!

Shepardson STEM Elementary School is a warm and inclusive K-5 school with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This emphasis aims to provide students with a strong foundation in these critical areas, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities in a technology-driven world. We are more than just a STEM school, though. We believe strongly in mental and physical wellness and support six different Specials opportunities that help develop a well-rounded learner. We are also incredibly proud to host a center-based autism program, which factors heavily into our inclusive focus on kindness and community.

Key features of Shepardson STEM Elementary School include:

  1. Curriculum: Integrates STEM subjects into everyday learning. Students engage in hands-on activities, problem-based learning (PBL), and experiments that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
  2. Technology Integration: Provides access to a wide array of technological supports throughout the academic year, including green screens, 3-D printers, robotics, and more.
  3. Extracurricular Activities: Offers various clubs and programs related to STEM, such as Coding, Minecraft, Math Olympiad, and Science Fairs, to further enhance students' skills and interests. Other clubs include Star Squad, Galaxy Mileage club, Bike Club, and Book Club.
  4. Collaborative Learning: Teaches students how to engage in group work and collaboration to develop teamwork and communication skills essential for making future-ready citizens.
  5. Community Involvement: Engages with local businesses, organizations, and higher education institutions to provide students with real-world experiences and an understanding of both what is happening within their community and how they can make an impact in it.
  6. Character Development:  Emphasizes the development of character traits such as kindness, inclusivity, and respect. Programs and initiatives are in place to promote a positive school culture where every student feels valued and supported.
  7. Professional Development: Provides ongoing training for teachers to stay updated with the latest educational practices and technologies.
