Her expertise in curriculum development and her focus on hands-on, experiential learning have greatly enriched the educational experiences of students. Our Assistant Principal!

Nick Ray is a former middle school science teacher moving into the Assistant Principal position at Shepardson beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. He is a Colorado native and is a proud product of state public schools. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a master’s from Colorado State University. Nick has always had a strong passion for teaching and learning which has only grown stronger over time. He believes that great science begins with careful observation, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to explore the unknown, qualities he will bring into his work here at Shepardson.

Shepardson holds a special place in Nick's heart. In his previous role, he had the privilege of working with many Shepardson students as they transitioned into middle school. He was consistently impressed by their curiosity, kindness, and readiness to learn. He is thrilled to now be part of the team that helps them grow in their earliest years.

Nick's life has been enriched by so many students, and students with neurodiversity have especially stolen his heart. He became an educator because he had great teachers who cared deeply about their students, and he aims to repay that gift every day.

Together, Laura Sutton and Nick Ray are excited to support and lead the students, families, and teachers at Shepardson, as they all work together to make school a place where every student feels connected and inspired.
