Hello Shepardson community!
My name is Nick Ray, and I am honored to serve as the new Assistant Principal at Shepardson STEM Elementary. I was born and raised right here in Colorado and am a proud product of our state's public schools. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder (Go Buffs!) and my master’s from Colorado State University (Go Rams!). Yes, I proudly root for both, especially during football season!
I've wanted to be an educator since I was in 7th grade, and I’ve never changed my mind. My passion for teaching and learning has only grown stronger over time. As a former middle school science teacher, I believe great science begins with careful observation, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to explore the unknown, qualities I hope to bring into my work here at Shepardson.
This school holds a special place in my heart. In my previous role, I had the privilege of working with many Shepardson students as they transitioned into middle school. I was consistently impressed by their curiosity, kindness, and readiness to learn. It’s a real joy to now be part of the team that helps them grow in their earliest years.
My life has been enriched by so many students, and students with neurodiversity have especially stolen my heart. I became an educator because I had great teachers who cared deeply about their students, and I aim to repay that gift every day.
Outside of school, I love camping, paddle boarding, reading, cheering on local sports teams, and most of all, being a dad. My wife and I enjoy traveling and discovering new outdoor adventures as a family.
I am truly excited to join Shepardson’s amazing STEM team and to learn alongside our young scholars. I look forward to partnering with staff, students, and families to make this an incredible year.
