About Me!
I graduated from Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington) with a Bachelors degree in English and PreK-6 Teaching Certificate. I became a certified Reading Recovery teacher through George Mason University a few years later. Most recently I graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a Master of Education degree in Literacy. I taught Kindergarten (and a year of first grade) at Stratford Landing Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia from 1999-2006.I started teaching kindergarten at Shepardson in 2007 and moved to second grade in 2015. Second grade is spectacular!
I grew up in Reston, Virginia, which is a peculiar little suburb of Washington, D.C. After college, I moved to Woodbridge, Virginia, which is best known for its giant outlet mall. I got married, and had two fabulous boys who you might have seen around Shepardson. Jimmie and I decided to move to Fort Collins after visiting my sister. We moved here in 2006, and we love it!
I love my family. I love teaching. I love coffee. And chocolate. I love reading and tacky crafts and biking and raising chickens. I try to garden, and am thrilled when something edible grows.
