My education: University of Oklahoma: Bachelor’s in Music Education; Colorado State University: Master’s of Music with Kodaly Emphasis; Orff Levels Training: The San Francisco School & Arizona State University.
Hello Shepardson community! I am so happy to be back at Shepardson for my fourth year at this school and thirteenth year of teaching music. At the core of my approach to music education is the belief that music is a cooperative activity that helps children develop prosocial skills and connect positively to their peers. I design my curriculum with this philosophy, providing as many opportunities as possible for students to collaborate through singing, playing, dancing, improvising, and creating!
My background: I have taught music in several states including Oklahoma (go Sooners!), Oregon, California, and Colorado. Instruments I play include piano, French horn, steel pans, guitar, and ukulele. When I began an online Master’s program at CSU, I spent summer sessions in Fort Collins and fell in love with the community. We moved here in 2016 and now live in the Shepardson neighborhood. Our four-year-old daughter will be a Shepardson Star someday!
I enjoy running, cycling, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
